Reading the table

The 2025 study’s named top scores belonged to Erie (743) and NJM Insurance Group (731), neither of which writes in enough states to include here; Liberty Mutual’s 730 is the highest score among the nine carriers on this table. USAA is excluded from J.D. Power’s own ranking despite scoring highest in every region, because membership is restricted to military members and their families — the same eligibility carve-out applied on the home ranking. Progressive holds the second-largest market share (16.73%) but the lowest claims score on this table (673); State Farm holds the largest share (18.87%) with a mid-table score (716). Liberty Mutual does not publish rate data to this page’s complaint-index source, so that cell is left blank rather than estimated.

Methodology

The order is the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Auto Claims Satisfaction Study, 9,455 claimants who settled a claim in the nine months before being surveyed, fielded September 2024 to August 2025, released October 27, 2025, average 700 of 1,000. Complaint indexes come from 2026 review-aggregator pages built on the latest NAIC private-passenger-auto data; the exact complaint year is not stated by the aggregator, and that caveat stays on the page. Market share is the NAIC 2024 private passenger auto line, group level, published March 17, 2025 (the 2025-data edition was not yet complete at the time this page was built). AM Best ratings carry their action dates. Where a figure could not be verified, the cell says so instead of holding a number.
