The Oklahoma file is one of the biggest movers in the set, up 21 places in the national order since 2018. In 2018, 27 jurisdictions carried a higher rate; in 2023, six do, which takes the state from 28th of 51 to 7th. The rate itself climbed from 0.72 percent in 2018 to 1.45 percent in 2023. Ranked by the size of the move since 2018 rather than by the level, it comes 5th of 51. The book got bigger. The 2023 reading is the highest of the six years. Under that 2023 rate are 7,706 policies the insurer declined to renew, out of 531,093 in force. Reading only the 62 counties that held 500 or more policies in 2023, Kiowa tops the 2023 readings at 7.73 percent, with Washita next at 4.49 percent, 3.24 points behind. Across the 77 counties with a 2023 reading the midpoint is 2.00 percent against 1.45 percent for the state. Inside the same group, top to bottom the 2023 readings cover 7.19 points, with the lowest county at 0.54 percent. This state holds eight places in the national top 100 counties by 2023 rate, which is ranked only over books of 500 policies or more, led by Kiowa, Washita, Caddo and Jackson. The word non-renewal covers one event only, the insurer ending the contract at the end of its term. Homeowners who switch carriers of their own accord never appear in these numbers.
Rows are sorted on the 2023 rate, so the smallest books can land at the top of the table. Anything above that names a county works from the counties carrying 500 policies or more. 15 counties below sit under it and are printed anyway. The count sits in its own column so the difference is visible rather than asserted.

Notice periods before a non-renewal are set by state law and this desk has not yet sourced the Oklahoma statute. The states it has checked are on the coverage map. For Oklahoma, the department of insurance is the record that governs.
