Nevada went down before it went up. The rate bottomed at 0.39 percent in 2020, the lowest of the six readings, then rose in each of the three years after that to reach 0.85 percent in 2023. That leaves it 0.22 points above the 0.63 percent it started from in 2018. On the 2023 rate that is 28th of 51 jurisdictions in the file. The floor is 2020. The step from 2022 to 2023 is the largest in the file, worth 0.30 points on its own. Across the five year-on-year steps the rate rose three times and fell twice. Across the 16 counties with a 2023 book of at least 500 policies, White Pine tops the 2023 readings at 1.98 percent, with Humboldt next at 1.47 percent, 0.51 points behind. The table also prints one county with no non-renewals at all in 2023. Under the 2023 rate sit 4,239 policies the insurer chose not to renew out of 500,184 in force, against 2,837 out of 447,807 six years earlier, so the count of dropped policies rose over the file while the book behind it grew. The national top 100 counties by 2023 rate, counted from books of at least 500 policies, holds nothing from this state. Read every figure above as the insurer walking away at renewal rather than the customer shopping around. Cancellations by homeowners are counted nowhere in the file.

Every county in the file

Every county the committee reported is listed here, smallest books included, each with its 2023 policy count. Only those at 500 policies or more feed the named-county claims further up. One county below sits under it and is printed anyway. A book that small turns a single lapsed policy into whole percentage points, which is what the policy column is there to show.

The notice window

Notice periods before a non-renewal are set by state law and this desk has not yet sourced the Nevada statute. The states it has checked are on the coverage map. For Nevada, the department of insurance is the record that governs.
